Important

LARIA is a free routing facility, not a law firm, emergency service or source of legal advice. It does not guarantee that an attorney will accept or contact you.

1. About LARIA

LARIA helps a member of the public send a legal enquiry to an eligible Lawryse member firm that has opted in for the relevant field. Lawryse does not charge the public to submit an enquiry and does not receive a commission from any legal work that may follow.

Submitting an enquiry does not create an attorney-client relationship with Lawryse or a participating firm. A professional relationship arises only if an attorney or firm separately agrees to act and completes its own conflict, identity, fee and engagement process.

2. Emergency and urgent help

Do not wait for LARIA if anyone is in immediate danger, urgent medical need or another emergency.

3. Children may ask for help

A person under 18 may use LARIA. A parent or guardian is not automatically required because that could prevent a child from seeking protection or legal help. LARIA may ask whether the person is under 18 so that heightened safeguards can be applied.

A child should choose a safe contact method and safe time. If a phone, email account or device is monitored by someone who may cause harm, the child should use a safer method where possible and may contact Childline on 116.

4. Information requested

LARIA asks only for information reasonably required to understand the broad legal field, apply any location-sensitivity rule, assess urgency, route the enquiry and allow a selected firm to make contact. Do not include unnecessary identity numbers, bank details, passwords or documents in the first description.

5. Automated classification and safety checks

Automated tools may identify spam or unsafe content, classify a broad legal field and apply routing rules. They do not give legal advice, decide whether a case will succeed or choose an attorney based on payment. An authorised person may review flagged or uncertain content.

6. Neutral routing

LARIA routes among eligible opted-in firms using practice-field eligibility, availability, the enquiry’s location sensitivity and neutral rotation. No membership tier receives priority. A matter may be court-bound, regional or location-agnostic; the location rule is applied to the enquiry rather than permanently to an attorney.

7. Invitation and contact process

  • LARIA sends a limited, time-bound invitation to one eligible firm at a time during configured service hours.
  • An invitation is normally available for about two minutes. If it expires or is declined, the enquiry may move to another eligible firm.
  • When a firm accepts, competing links expire and the accepted firm receives the permitted contact details and description.
  • LARIA may ask after approximately ten minutes whether the firm has made contact. A negative response may permit a further routing attempt.
  • An enquiry may be offered to a maximum of three firms. There is no guarantee that any firm will accept or make contact.

Out-of-hours time does not count in the same way as configured service hours. An out-of-hours enquiry may be queued with a clear message not to wait if the matter is urgent.

8. Staged information sharing

Before acceptance, a firm receives limited routing information such as the legal field, broad location and urgency. After acceptance, the firm receives the enquirer’s permitted contact details and matter description. The selected firm becomes responsible for its own professional assessment and privacy duties.

9. Your responsibilities

  • Provide information that is honest and reasonably accurate.
  • Do not use LARIA for threats, harassment, fraud, spam or unlawful purposes.
  • Do not submit another person’s sensitive information unless reasonably necessary and lawful.
  • Use emergency and specialist services where immediate protection is required.
  • Decide independently whether to instruct a firm and read the firm’s own engagement and fee terms.

10. No recommendation, guarantee or legal advice

Routing is not a recommendation or ranking. Lawryse does not verify the merits of an enquiry, guarantee professional suitability, availability, response time, fees or outcome, or supervise the legal services provided by an independent firm.

11. Privacy, retention and communications

The Privacy Policy explains staged disclosure, special personal information, children’s data, service providers and user rights. A LARIA matter narrative is normally retained for no more than 30 days after closure or final routing, while contact, routing and acceptance logs may be kept for up to 5 years for security, service evidence and disputes.

By submitting, the enquirer permits necessary service messages through the selected safe contact channels. Those messages are not marketing. Ordinary SMS alerts do not contain detailed matter information.

12. Liability and applicable law

To the extent permitted by law, Lawryse is not liable for an independent firm’s acts or omissions, a failure to accept or contact, or indirect or consequential loss. Nothing excludes liability or a right that cannot lawfully be excluded. South African law governs these terms.

13. Acceptance and contact

The enquirer accepts these terms and acknowledges the Privacy Policy by ticking the required boxes before submission. The acceptance record stores the terms version, time and source. Public and non-member LARIA queries: enquiries@lawryse.com.
