Member editorial service

A Guest Article is submitted through the Dashboard and, when published, appears as an Expert Contribution under the approved author. It is not an advertisement and does not receive advertising discounts or credits.

1. Scope and acceptance

These terms apply to Guest Articles submitted under the launch allowance, a single-article purchase or Guest Article Bundles, including redemption of existing paid credits after membership ends. The submitting person confirms authority from the named author and firm. These terms must be accepted before payment. New purchases are available to active member firms only.

2. Launch allowance

During Lawryse’s Pilot Launch Promotion, each active member firm may submit up to 4 (four) Guest Articles at no additional charge in any rolling 30-day period (equivalent to one article per week), regardless of the number of attorneys registered under that firm. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and publication scheduling at Lawryse’s discretion. Unused free allowances do not carry over or convert to cash or credit. If an article is rejected, the firm may submit a replacement within the original allowance.

3. Guest Article Bundles and payment

After the Pilot Launch Promotion ends, single Guest Articles and Guest Article Bundles are payable upfront. Please consult the Rates section in the Dashboard for current prices and available bundles. Lawryse reserves the right to amend prices and bundle options from time to time. Changes apply to future purchases only and will not affect the number of articles already paid for or result in an additional publication charge for those articles.

Each purchased article provides one publication credit. Premium and Gold advertising discounts, referral advertising credits and other advertising credits do not apply.

Guest Article rates exclude VAT where applicable. Lawryse is not currently registered as a VAT vendor and no VAT is presently charged. When Lawryse becomes VAT registered, VAT will be added at the applicable rate. Checkout will show the number of articles included and the full amount payable before payment.

4. Carry over and firm ownership

Guest Article Bundles are one-off purchases with no automatic renewal and no monthly reset. Unused paid credits carry over between months and across membership renewals. Credits remain available until redeemed; monthly inactivity does not cause forfeiture. Future price changes apply to new purchases and do not reduce the article entitlement already purchased.

Credits belong to the purchasing firm and may be used by its authorised attorneys. They cannot be resold, transferred to another firm or exchanged for membership, advertising or other services.

5. Included publication service

  • Editorial assessment and practical feedback.
  • A reasonable revision process addressing clarity, accuracy, legality, professional ethics, confidentiality and privilege.
  • Formatting, headings, categories, tags, basic search presentation and reasonable hero-image handling.
  • Scheduling and publication on the Lawryse website as an Expert Contribution.
  • Reasonable promotion through Lawryse channels at Lawryse’s discretion.

Substantial rewriting, new research, custom graphics, photography, video or other work outside the standard service may be quoted separately and will not be charged without agreement.

6. Editorial process

  • Submit the article, approved author and firm information, category details, relevant sources and suitable image material. For a paid submission, one available publication credit is reserved while the article is reviewed and scheduled.
  • Lawryse assesses clarity, structure, accuracy, originality, confidentiality, privilege, rights and website suitability.
  • If changes are needed, Lawryse identifies the issues and the Member submits a revised version.
  • Once reasonable requirements are met, Lawryse approves and schedules the article.
  • The article is published publicly as an Expert Contribution. One reserved publication credit is consumed only when the paid article is published.

7. Approval and publication scheduling

Lawryse makes every effort to publish approved articles promptly. Approval, publication timing, order and frequency remain at Lawryse’s discretion, taking account of topic duplication, editorial suitability and a balanced mix of firms and subjects. No more than four paid Guest Articles per firm will be published in any rolling 30-day period. This limit applies across all attorneys, purchases and bundles belonging to that firm. It is a maximum, not a promise of four publications or a fixed publication date. Larger Guest Article Bundles are intended for publication over several months. During the launch allowance, the separate limit in clause 2 continues to apply. Publication requires completion of reasonable requested changes and lawful, ethical and suitable content.

8. Member and author responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, current and supportable information and disclose material uncertainty.
  • Protect client confidentiality and legal professional privilege.
  • Obtain permission for case details, quotations, images, logos and other third-party material.
  • Disclose relevant commercial interests, sponsorships and conflicts.
  • Avoid misleading claims, guaranteed outcomes and individualised legal advice to readers.
  • Respond to feedback and cooperate with reasonable editorial changes.

9. Response time and abandoned submissions

Unless agreed otherwise, the Member should respond to a change request within 30 calendar days. Lawryse may close an inactive submission after reasonable notice. If a paid submission is closed without publication, its reserved credit is released for a replacement submission. Closure alone does not consume the credit or require a new publication fee.

10. Rejected articles and replacement credits

If Lawryse rejects a paid article for any reason, including duplication of a topic already covered or scheduled, its reserved publication credit is returned to the firm’s available balance. The firm may use that credit to submit another article without paying a new publication fee. Rejection does not reduce the number of paid publications remaining. The returned credit is the same entitlement, not an additional credit. Replacement articles remain subject to review and scheduling. A rejected launch submission creates no monetary credit; a suitable replacement may be submitted under the launch allowance.

11. Cash refunds

Guest Article purchases and unused publication credits are not redeemable for cash. Lawryse does not offer voluntary cash refunds merely because a firm changes its mind, does not use its credits or chooses not to renew membership. Rejected paid articles receive replacement publication credit as described above. This rule is subject to applicable law and does not exclude a refund, cancellation or payment reversal that Lawryse is legally required to provide.

12. Membership ending and redemption

If membership ends, unused paid publication credits are retained. The firm receives limited access, or an assisted submission route, solely to submit and manage articles against those credits. No new bundles may be purchased without active membership, and this redemption access does not restore other membership benefits. Already-approved articles may be published after membership ends, subject to the normal scheduling rules.

13. Editing, headlines and presentation

Lawryse controls publication timing, layout, headline, summary, categories, tags, image selection and reasonable editorial presentation. Material changes affecting the author’s meaning will be referred to the author where reasonably practicable.

14. Copyright and licence

The author retains copyright unless another written arrangement applies and grants Lawryse a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to edit, format, publish, archive, reproduce, distribute and promote the article and related supplied material in Lawryse channels. The author warrants originality and lawful use of third-party content.

15. Corrections, updates and removal

Lawryse may correct, update, annotate, temporarily unpublish or remove content for accuracy, legal, ethical, security or platform-integrity reasons. The Member must promptly report a material error or legal development affecting the article. Historical publication and correction records may be retained.

16. Withdrawal by the contributor

A contributor may request withdrawal of an article before publication by notifying Lawryse in writing or by withdrawing it in the Dashboard. A publication credit is used only when an article is published, so on withdrawal before publication the reserved publication credit is released back to the firm’s available balance for another submission.

Withdrawal does not affect credits reserved for other articles or the firm’s remaining unused bundle credits.

During the free Pilot Launch Promotion, a withdrawn article does not automatically restore the submission allowance used.

17. Visibility and outcomes

Publishing through Lawryse gives your firm an opportunity to share its expertise, build visibility and connect with readers. Results will vary, and publication does not guarantee particular levels of readership, search rankings, enquiries or new clients. Publication does not constitute an endorsement of the contributing firm.

18. Privacy and attribution

The approved author name, firm, biography, photograph and related professional attribution may be displayed publicly. Private account, payment and editorial records are processed under the Privacy Policy.

19. Law, liability and contact

The Member is responsible for supplied content and rights. To the extent permitted by law, Lawryse is not liable for indirect or consequential loss or an expected publication outcome. Nothing in these terms excludes any right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. South African law governs these terms. Editorial and submission queries: support@lawryse.com.
