Membership is billed annually in advance. Advertising and post-launch Guest Articles are separate purchases. Cancelling renewal takes effect when it is submitted and never needs Lawryse’s approval.
1. Purpose and relationship to the membership terms
This Billing Policy explains Lawryse payment, renewal, cancellation, credit and account-status rules in plain language. The Dashboard Membership Terms and Conditions remain the governing membership agreement. Service-specific terms govern Advertising and Guest Article purchases.
2. Annual membership billing
- Membership is paid annually in advance.
- A monthly figure displayed beside a plan is a monthly equivalent for comparison only.
- The checkout summary shows the selected plan, attorney band, current annual amount and renewal basis before payment.
- Membership renews automatically at the end of the annual period unless renewal is cancelled.
- Membership is paid for the whole year. A price change never applies to a year that has already been paid for; it applies only from the next renewal.
- Lawryse considers any membership price increase carefully and does not change membership prices often or without good reason.
- A renewal notice is emailed to the account holder and the accounts contact at least 40 days before each renewal date, stating the renewal date, the price and how to cancel.
3. VAT during the first trading period and after registration
Lawryse is not currently registered as a VAT vendor and no VAT is presently charged. When Lawryse becomes registered, membership prices will remain VAT-inclusive. Advertising and Guest Article base prices will be exclusive of VAT and VAT will be added at the applicable rate.
Every invoice, receipt or booking confirmation will preserve the VAT status, rate and treatment that applied on its transaction date. After registration, Advertising and Guest Article pricing will show the VAT-exclusive amount, VAT amount and total VAT-inclusive amount.
4. Successful payment and records
A membership starts only when the initial payment succeeds. Successful payments generate an invoice or receipt and an account transaction record. Lawryse’s payment provider processes card or payment credentials; Lawryse does not store full card details.
5. Failed renewal payments and retries
A failed renewal starts a 14-day grace period. Lawryse or its payment provider may make up to three retries during that period. The Member should update or authenticate its payment method promptly.
| Account state | Dashboard access | Public profiles |
|---|---|---|
| Active | Full entitled access. | Visible if otherwise complete and eligible. |
| Payment overdue | Full access with billing warnings during the 14-day grace period. | Remain visible during the grace period. |
| Suspended for non-payment | Billing, account information and support access only. | Hidden, not deleted. |
| Cancellation scheduled | Full access until the paid period ends. | Remain visible until the paid period ends. |
| Ended | Paid functionality stops. | Hidden; records retained under the Privacy Policy. |
6. Cancelling automatic renewal
Cancel renewal through the Dashboard or email accounts@lawryse.com. No Lawryse approval is required. A cancellation made in the Dashboard takes effect when it is submitted; the Dashboard asks, but does not require, a short reason. The account holder and the accounts contact are emailed an acknowledgement. A cancellation emailed to accounts@lawryse.com takes effect when Lawryse receives it. After membership ends, the Member’s details are kept as set out in the Privacy Policy, and the Member is welcome to rejoin at any time.
Unless mandatory law provides an earlier right, once a cancellation has taken effect the account remains active until the end of the already-paid period and will not renew, and the Member may withdraw the cancellation until that period ends. A cancellation received after a renewal has already been lawfully processed applies to the following renewal unless an applicable cooling-off, reversal or early-cancellation right requires otherwise.
7. Mandatory cancellation and cooling-off rights
Nothing in this Policy removes a right that applies under the Consumer Protection Act, Electronic Communications and Transactions Act or another mandatory law. Where the Consumer Protection Act fixed-term cancellation right applies, cancellation may be exercised on the prescribed notice subject only to a lawful reasonable cancellation charge. Where an electronic cooling-off right applies, Lawryse will honour it.
8. Attorney-band changes
Adding attorneys within the current band does not change the fee. Moving above the band may result in a pro-rata charge for the remainder of the annual period. The full new-band annual fee applies at the next renewal.
9. Advertising purchases
Advertising is purchased separately and paid upfront. The booking summary shows the selected product, campaign details, applicable membership discount, VAT treatment and total payable. Advertising is governed by the Advertising Terms and Booking Conditions.
10. Guest Article publication fees
During the Pilot Launch Promotion, eligible Guest Articles are included at no additional charge. After the Pilot Launch Promotion, a Guest Article is paid for upfront, as a single article or as a bundle of publication credits, at the prices shown on the Rates page in the Dashboard. Each purchased article is one publication credit; credits do not expire and are not refunded in cash, except where the law requires. Advertising discounts and advertising or referral credits do not apply. When Lawryse becomes VAT-registered, VAT will be added to the Guest Article prices.
11. Referral and service credits
| Credit | Rule |
|---|---|
| Referral advertising credit | 10% of a qualifying referred firm’s first paid membership amount after discounts and excluding VAT, refunds and chargebacks. Advertising use only; valid for 12 months; no cash value. |
| Service or account credit | May be issued for an undelivered confirmed service or approved adjustment. Ordinarily valid for 12 months unless the confirmation states otherwise. |
| Promotional credit | Subject to the campaign-specific eligibility, use and expiry rules presented when issued. |
A credit applied to an Advertising booking is applied in the manner shown at checkout. VAT is calculated and recorded according to the legally applicable treatment of that transaction.
12. Refunds, reversals and chargebacks
Paid membership fees are ordinarily non-refundable for the current paid period once access has been provided, except where mandatory law, a cooling-off right or a confirmed service failure requires a refund or adjustment. A chargeback does not cancel an undisputed debt and may result in suspension while the payment is investigated.
13. Restoring a suspended account
The Member may sign in to update billing details and contact support. Once the outstanding payment is confirmed, normal access and eligible public profiles may be restored. Restoration does not guarantee immediate third-party search-engine re-indexing.
14. Billing questions
Contact accounts@lawryse.com for membership payments, cancellations, invoices, credits, Advertising payments and booking-related billing. Telephone: 087 1888 990.
